Now ‘a good time for property investors’

Individuals considering purchasing a buy-to-let property and becoming a landlord may be pleased to hear one expert’s comments about the market.

Dianne Paterson, property partner at Russel + Aitken, claimed “conditions are still strongly favouring those who are in a position to buy”.

She explained how although it is “too early to predict” how things will develop in the coming months, the current outlook is positive for individuals looking to invest.

According to Ms Paterson, buyers are “still being able to negotiate good discounts on properties”.

However, it was noted many of those who are new to the market are struggling to secure a mortgage as job security remains an issue for a considerable number of people.

Ms Paterson’s comments follow a recent report from LSL Property Services that revealed Scottish house prices increased by 0.8 per cent in September.

This was suggested to be an “end of summer bounce”, which may not continue in the long term.
